No Lister Drinky? Really?

So 2 floors in Lister Hall are going dry.  Having experienced 4 years of not being dry in Lister, I have mixed emotions about this one.  The drinking and partying was a part of my Lister Hall experience.  Those who chose not to drink could do so and absolutely weren’t ridiculed for it.  We respected “quiet hours” and in my more experienced years I helped take care of those who were, let’s say, less experienced in the art of the drink.  It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Today’s Twitter is like blogs were in the 2000’s.   There are millions of tweets, but the Twitter Celebrity* gets the most views.  The rest of us tweet for no reason.  Kinda weird, that.  Hitting the Tweat button knowing that nobody out there cares.  Except, maybe, for my wife, who likely watched me compose the Tweet live and in person.

*I wonder what Alyssa Milano is up to…

Virgins? In Edmonton?

Is there any more nasty business than the radio business?  I’m fascinated by the industry but couldn’t fathom working in it.  Looks like EZ Rock Edmonton is toast.  Oh Pepper & Dylan, I’m sure my wife will forgive you for leaving us and going to Calgary.  Is it time for a welcome home party and a Virgin Radio Edmonton launch? TSN’s @jenniferhedger joins Twitter.  She immediately gets more than 2,000 followers.  Her husband @Sean_McCormick has been tweeting forever, is high profile (used to be a Sportsnet anchor and a Toronto city councillor candidate) and is stuck at under 800 followers.  The guy’s an Oilers fan though, so he’s ok in my books.

Ever noticed that there’s a TSN in SporTSNet?

I think what I miss about Hicks on Six the most is the radio ratings.  It was always interesting to see who was at the top and who was at the bottom of the ratings.  I’m a sports radio psych, so I’m always cheering for the Team 1260, the little (and probably expensive) radio station that could.  Used to advertise my company on the station.  We had an ad that had a guy saying “Shit Happens” but “Shit” was bleeped out.  Some guy called me at work and complained that he had his kids in the car when he heard the ad.  Thanks for that.  And good job having your kids listen to a radio station with a 25+ demographic and lots of sex talk.  Awesome parenting.

Why is it that my kids can watch the same movie or tv show over and over.  We’ve got Netflix.  The boy can watch the same damn Dora the Explorer episode five times a day.
